BioKnit at the Late Shows, Newcastle

As part of The Newcastle Late Shows 2025, we have been growing a new mycelium textile installation in The Coach House, a historic brick building near Charlotte Square. The project explores the intersection of textiles, biotechnology, and architecture working directly with the structure of the building to generate the geometries of the piece. Growing on site allowed us to transform The Coach House into a living laboratory, where fungal mycelium grows and weaves through 3D knitted fabric forming a series of organic arches and canopies. For this project we are delighted to be working with award-winning visual artist, designer and curator Imogen Cloët  to develop an artistic response that not only enhances the visual impact of the installation but also invites reflection on how biotechnology can transform our built environments.

Come and visit us on Saturday 17th May to experience BioKnit Pupa!
