Flux

Flux is an environmentally responsive knitted installation composed of 100% linen. The installation is moisture responsive, changing in shape when exposed to changing levels of humidity. Shape change is programmed into the fabric using insight from biomimetic models of hierarchy observed in plant tissue. Shape change is reversible and repeatable. The fabric returns to the original shape as it dries. This can be observed through atmospheric changes in the humidity and moisture, or using a water spray. The piece was first exhibited at Colonise Leeds in 2015.
