This films documents PhD practice developing a smart, programmable textile system. The aim of the work was to develop environmentally responsive knitted textiles which change in shape in response to external stimuli. Informed by biomimicry and constructed from 100% natural fibres, shape change is programmed through the careful manipulation of the knit hierarchy fibre- yarn- fabric.
This film was exhibited at Restless Futures, London Design Festival 2014 and at Research Through Design, Microsoft Research Centre, Cambridge, 2014.
